-3x-3y=3 and y=-5x-17
Thepotemich [5.8K]
The solution is (-4,3)
-3x-3y=3
y=-5x-17
so find the y in the first equation in terms of x
-3x-3y=3
-3y=3x+3
y=-x-1
then set the two equations equal to each other
y=-x-1
y=-5x-17
-x-1=-5x-17
4x=-16
x=-4
now put the x into one of the equations
-3(-4)-3(y)=3
12-3y=3
-3y=-9
y=3
so the solution is (-4,3)
to check it, put the points into equations and see if they're correct
-3(-4)-3(3)=3
12-9=3
3=3 correct

3=-5(-4)-17
3=20-17
3=3 correct

Someone please help me mate i'm not smart!
musickatia [10]
Let's use f(x) for the first one and g(x) for the second.
n is the number of songs downloaded, t is the time in years, and m is the time in months.

f(x) = 125t + 10m
g(x) = 50 + n

For 2, substitute 1 for t and 12 for m.
For 4, solve f(x) = g(x).
For 5, solve g(x) for n=(14*12). Compare it to the value of f(x) for t=1 and 12=m.

Ivan

Kyle purchased a 20 lb. pumpkin for $5.95.

Cost per lb of pumpkin for Kyle = 5.95/ 12 = $0.496.

Elizabeth purchased a 15 lb. pumpkin for $5.00.

Cost per lb of pumpkin for Elizabeth = 5.00/15 = $0.333.

Elijah purchased an 8 oz. pumpkin for $ 0.16.

16 oz = 1 lb

8 oz = 0.5 lb.

Cost per lb of pumpkin for Elijah = 0.16/ 0.5 = $ 0.32.

Cost per lb of pumpkin for Elijah is $ 0.32 is the lowest price per lb of pumpkin .

Cost per lb of pumpkin for Kyle is $ $0.496 is the highest price per lb of pumpkin .

Therefore, Elijah got the best deal and Kyle got the worst deal.
