If it's a double bar line at the end of a staff, it is just there to separate two sections of the music. If it's a single bar line, it's there to separate beats to make a measure.

Ils sont forts (ils = 3rd person masculine plural ----> forts)
elles sont fortes (elles = 3rd person feminine plural ------> fortes)
the adjectives , even after a verb , (adjectifs attributs du sujet ,in French) do have to agree in gender and plural or singular.
