1. Ponyboy always felt like Darry didn’t seem to care for him and didn’t feel like he had a good relationship with him, so Darry hitting him was basically the last straw for Ponyboy. He believed Darry thought of him as a nuisance. In that justification, Ponyboy felt he was fair.
