A patient is brought to the hospital unconscious and is a known diabetic patient. The medic was unable to get a bedside glucose

reading. Upon analysis, the laboratorian got a glucose reading of 800++ mg/dL. The ++ means the concentration is higher than the analyzer can read. As a laboratorian, explain how you would do a 1/2 dilution and what the patients actual result is if the analyzer reports a 459 mg/dL sugar following the dilution.

Answer: 918 mg/dl would be the actual blood glucose level. 459 X 2 = 918.

The lab technician adds equal amounts of the plasma sample to an equal amount of the dilution, ie 1:1.

Other than tablet hardness, which method is used to measure the tablet strength?
Anni [7]

There are 2 main processes to test tablet hardness: compression testing and 3 point bend testing. For compression testing, the analyst generally aligns the tablet in a repeatable way, and the tablet is squeezed between a fixed and a moving jaw. The first machines continually applied force with a spring and screw thread until the tablet started to break. When the tablet fractured, the hardness was read with a sliding scale.

Evidence is carefully collected and is in the custody of authorized people from the time it is collected until it is submitted i
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Answer

The term “evidence,” as it relates to investigation, speaks to a wide range of information sources that might eventually inform the court to prove or disprove points at issue before the trier of fact. Sources of evidence can include anything from the observations of witnesses to the examination and analysis of physical objects. It can even include the spatial relationships between people, places, and objects within the timeline of events. From the various forms of evidence, the court can draw inferences and reach conclusions to determine if a charge has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Considering the critical nature of evidence within the court system, there are a wide variety of definitions and protocols that have evolved to direct the way evidence is defined for consideration by the court. Many of these protocols are specifically addressed and defined within the provisions of the Canada Evidence Act (Government of Canada, 2017).

In this chapter, we will look at some of the key definitions and protocols that an investigator should understand to carry out the investigative process:

David, a CMA (AAMA), obtains Mr. Washington’s vital signs after he has escorted him to the examination room. David notes Mr. Was
liq [111]

According to the BP values that Mr. Washington presents, we can say that he is showing hypertension.

Accordingly, we can answer the questions shown above, as follows:

  • BP is the acronym for blood pressure and is considered normal when it presents values lower than 140/90 mmHg. Mr. Washington is showing 148/92 mmHg of blood pressure, which shows that he is hypertensive, that is, he is showing blood pressure above normal

  • African American people like Mr. Washington are more likely to develop hypertension because they are more sensitive to sodium and can accumulate this element in the body more intensely than white people.

  • To help Mr. Washington control blood pressure, the doctor should recommend physical exercise, increased water intake, and a diet free of sodium and fat.
