Does the equation 7c+8p=29.60 help us to solve the original system? 5c+4p=18.40 2c+4p=11.20 If you think so, explain how it help
garik1379 [7]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the simultaneous equation

5c+4p=18.40 ..... 2

2c+4p=11.20.......2

According to the equation given  7c+8p=29.60, we will see that the two equation was added to get the required equation in question. Note that this equation  7c+8p=29.60 cannot help us to solve the simultaneous equation because the resulting equation is one equation with two unknown variables. For us to get a solution to the simultaneous equation, we need to reduce the system of equation to just an equation and a variable. This can be gotten by taking the difference of the two equation as shown: (Elimination method)

Equation 1 - equation 2 will give;

(5c-2c)+(4p-4p) = 18.40-11.20

3c+0 = 29.60

3c = 29.60

Divide both sides by 3

3c/3 = 29.60/3

c = 9.87

Substitute c = 9.87 into equation 2

From 2: 2c+4p = 11.20

c + 2p = 5.60

9.87 + 2p = 5.60

2p = 5.60 - 9.87

2p= -4.27

p = -4.27/2

p = -2.135

You can see that what helped in solving the system of equation is by eliminating one of the variables first using the Elimination method.

There are 4 Board of Directors positions open. 2 will be for men, 2 will be for women.
laiz [17]

Answer:

1980 total outcomes are possible.

Step-by-step explanation:

The order in which the candidates are chosen is not important. So we use the combinations formula to solve this question.

Combinations formula:

C_{n,x} is the number of different combinations of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

How many total outcomes are possible?

2 men, from a set of 11.

2 women, from a set of 9.

So

T = C_{11,2}*C_{9,2} = \frac{11!}{2!9!}*\frac{9!}{2!7!} = 1980

1980 total outcomes are possible.

please solve the question and show your work so pluto is the farthest planet from the sun it also the slowest planet. plutos ave
allsm [11]
Knowing that pluto is travelling at 10,604 and the Earth travels 6.28 times faster;

6.28x=10,604 mph (where x is the speed of the earth)
x=10,604/6.28
x=1688.53 mph for the Earth

Double check by multiplying the answer found by 6.28 to see if it gives pluto's speed.

1688.53×6.28=10, 604 mph

Therefore, our solution is correct.

Hope I helped :)
