A soccer team’s performance in a game depends on its performance in the last two games. If the team has lost both its previous g

ames, it has 80% of losing this game. If it has won one of its two games and lost the other one, it has a 50% chance of winning this game. If it has won the last two games, then it is on a roll and it has a 90% chance of winning this game. Your job is to find out the probability of the soccer team winning its next game. You missed the last two games, so you do not know their outcome and hence you assume all outcomes are equally likely.

The probability of the team winning its next game is 0.733

Since we are assuming that each the three outcomes are equally likely, hence outcome will have a probability of 1/3

Let:

Win = W ; Lose = L

Probability of winning next game :

If LL = 90%

If LW = 50%

If WW = 90%

Therefore,

The probability of the winning its next game :

[P(wining next game) × P(LL) + P(wining next game) × P(LW) + P(winning next game) × P(WW)]

[(0.8 × 1/3) + (0.5 × 1/3) + (0.9 × 1/3)] = 0.7333

Hence, the probability of the team winning it's next game is 0.733.

7- a. What is the radius of the circle with center (3,10) that passes through (12,12)?
loris [4]

Answer: a. Radius of circle = \sqrt{85}

b. The equation of this circle : (x-3)^2+(y-10)^2=85

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Center of the circle = (3,10)

Circle is passing through (12,12).

a. To find the radius we apply distance formula (∵ Radius is the distance from center to any point ion the circle.)

Radius of circle = \sqrt{(12-3)^2+(12-10)^2}

Radius of circle = \sqrt{(9)^2+(2)^2}=\sqrt{81+4}=\sqrt{85}

i.e. Radius of circle = \sqrt{85}

b. Equation of a circle = (x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2 , where (h,k)=Center and r=radius of the circle.

Put the values of (h,k)= (3,10) and r= \sqrt{85} , we get

(x-3)^2+(y-10)^2=(\sqrt{85})^2

(x-3)^2+(y-10)^2=85

∴  The equation of this circle :(x-3)^2+(y-10)^2=85
