Doris Miller was the First Afro American hero of the World War II. He served as a US naval serviceman and greatly appreciated for his courageousness during the attack on Pearl Harbour in the year 1941. Has a US naval serviceman he famed himself during the Japanese attack against Pearl Harbour on Sunday, December 7, 1941.

For his contribution in the war, the medal was awarded for bravery on board the battleship West Virginia during the Pearl Harbour attack. He was the first African American to be honored with this medal in the year 1942. Besides this, he was good at sports like football in which he held the position of fullback. He was also a heavyweight boxer who represents himself at all levels.
