x^2=4x-5 so let us write it in general form which is ax^2+bx+c=0
subtracting 4x from both sides
x^2-4x=-5
adding 5 to both sides
x^2-4x+5=0
a=1,b=-4,c=5
b^2-4ac=(-4)^2-4(1)(5)=16-20=-4
