Given P(x) = 2x3 - 11x2 + 18x - 15 is divided by x – 3. Use synthetic division to find the quotient and the remainder.
katrin [286]
You can find the remainder right away by simply plugging in x=3. The polynomial remainder theorem guarantees that the value of p(3) is the remainder upon dividing p(x) by x-3, but I digress...

Synthetic division yields

3   |   2   -11   18   -15
.    |           6   -15     9
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
.    |   2     -5     3     -6

which translates to

\dfrac{2x^3-11x^2+18x-15}{x-3}=2x^2-5x+3-\dfrac6{x-3}

(and note that p(3)=2(3)^3-11(3)^2+18(3)-15=-6, as expected)

Find the measures of the angles of a triangle whose angles have a measure of x, 1/2x, and 1/6x. Also, what kind of triangle is i
Alexandra [31]

the sum of the angles in a triangle = 180°, thus

x + \frac{1}{2} x + \frac{1}{6} x = 180

multiply through by 6

6x + 3x + x = 1080

10x = 1080 ( divide both sides by 10 )

x = 108

the angles are 108°, 54° and 18°

Since all the angles are different and the largest is 108°

The triangle is an obtuse scalene triangle

Romashka [77]

Answer:

The answer is x = 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Δ ABC is an Isosceles triangle with AB = CA

   m∠ ABC = ( 6x + 4 )°

   m∠ BAC = 73°

   m∠ BCA = ( 8y - 7 )°

To Find:

x = ?

Solution:

Properties of an Isosceles Triangle.

  1. Base angles or two angles are equal.
  2. Any two sides are equal.

Here , Δ ABC is an Isosceles triangle with AB = CA

∴  m∠ BAC = m∠ BCA

73= 8y-7\\8y=73+7\\8y=80\\y=\frac{80}{10} \\y=10

∴      m∠ BCA = ( 8y - 7 )°

                       = 8 × 10 - 7

       m∠ BCA  = 73  Which is same as ∠ CAB

Property of a Triangle is Sum of the measures of the angle of a triangle is 180°.

\angle ACB + \angle CAB + \angle CBA = 180

Substituting the values we get,

73 + 73 + (6x+4) = 180\\6x+4=180-146\\6x=34-4\\6x=30\\x=\frac{30}{6} \\x=5\\

The answer is x = 5.
