(6, 1) (6, 2) <u>(6, 3) </u>(6, 4) (6, 5) <u>(6, 6) </u>

The bold numbers are less than 7, and the <u>underlined numbers</u> are <u>divisible by 3</u>. The total number of numbers are 36.

The number of numbers that are <u>both</u> <u>underlined</u> and bold are 7.

The probability is 7/36.

The answer to all 11.
madam [21]

Answer:

The rate of the current is 2 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the rate of the river is v miles per hour.

The speed of the boat is 12 miles per hour.

Let us assume also that the boat can go 21 miles in t hours in the downstream and 15 miles upstream at the same time i.e. t hours.

So, from the condition given we can write that

12 + v = \frac{21}{t} ......... (1), and

12-v =\frac{15}{t} ......... (2)

Now, adding those two equations we get

24 = \frac{21}{t} +\frac{15}{t} = \frac{36}{t}

⇒ t = \frac{3}{2} hours

Now, from equation (1), we get,

12 + v = \frac{21}{\frac{3}{2} } =14

⇒ v = 2 miles per hour

Therefore, the rate of the current is 2 miles per hour. (Answer)

What values of a and b would make the equation shown have infinitely many solutions? 3x=ax+b
Wittaler [7]
Infinitely many solutions means that you have the same thing on both sides of the equation no matter what value of x you plug in, right?

We just need both sides to be 3x then, correct?

If a were equal to 3 and b were equal to 0, we'd have

3x = (3)x + 0

Which is essentially 3x = 3x

So that means a = 3 and b = 0 must work!
Let's say x = 5

3(5) = 3(5) + 0

15 = 15 + 0

15 = 15

That means that a = 3 and b = 0 is your final answer :)
