To graph a rate or ratio from a table, how do you determine the scales to use on each axis

First determine how much room you have for each axis. Let's say you count your graph paper and it has 30 squares by 10 squares.

Then find the largest number in the x-values. If you want your graph long-ways, then plot the x-values on the longer length of the sheet, the side with 30 squares.
Let's say your largest x-value is 300. Then you divide that largest value (300) by how many squares are on the axis (30).
300/30 = 10, so each square is 10.

Same thing goes for the y-axis. Say your largest y-value is 50. If the y-axis of your graph paper is 10 squares long, then each square would increase by
50/10 = 5.

A phone company charges $0.06 per minute for local calls and $0.15 per minute for international calls. When your bill comes, it
solmaris [256]
Let's assume two variables x and y which represent the local and international calls respectively.

x + y = 852 = total number of minutes which were consumed by the company (equation 1)
0.06*x+ 0.15 y =69.84 = total price which was charged for the phone calls (Equation 2)
 from equation 1:-
x=852 -y (sub in equation 2)
0.06 (852 - y) + 0.15 y =69.84

51.12 -0.06 y +0.15 y =69.84 (subtracting both sides by 51.12)
0.09 y =18.74
y= 208 minutes = international minutes (sub in 1)
208+x=852 (By subtracting both sides by 208)
x = 852-208 = 644 minutes = local minutes

Tiffany buys a basket of watermelons on sale for \$9$9dollar sign, 9 before tax. The sales tax is 9\%9%9, percent. What is the t
vladimir2022 [97]
Given that the basket of watermelons sells for $9 before tax and the tax rate is 9%.

The tax on the basket of watermelons is given by

\frac{9\%}{100\%} \times\$9=0.09\times\$9 \\  \\ =\$0.81

Therefore, the total price Tiffany pays for the basket of watermelons is $9 + $0.81 = $9.81
