Reproductive strategy is described into r-selection strategy and K-selection strategy. When an organism reproduces slowly and has only one offspring each time it reproduces, this organism is classified as the K-selected organism. Examples of K-selected organisms are elephants and humans.

Carbon is a essential element for all life on earth. The primary function of the the Carbon Cycle is to exchange carbon throughout earth between the atmosphere,oceans,ecosystems, and geosphere. If the Carbon Cycle was to fail, then life on earth would begin to breakdown causing an end to all life on earth.

When glucose is high, cAMP is low; CAP does not bind the lac operator, and RNA polymerase does not bind the lac promoter. CAP is only active when glucose levels are low, which means the cAMP levels are high, and therefore the lac operon can only be transcribed at high rate when glucose is absent. The importance of this is that the bacteria only turns on the lac operon and start using lactose only after they have used up all the preferred energy source which is glucose.
