The phone company splint has a monthly cellular plan where a customer pays a flat monthly fee and then a certain amount of money

per minute used on the phone. if a customer uses 470 minutes, the monthly cost will be $162. if the customer uses 540 minutes, the monthly cost will be $183.
a.find an equation in the form y = m x + b , y=mx+b, where x x is the number of monthly minutes used and y y is the total monthly of the splint plan.

162=470m+b and 183=540m+b.
183-162=(540-470)m, 21=70m so m=0.30.
162=470×0.30+b=141+b, b=162-141=21
Therefore y=0.30m+21.

Khan academy algebra video why we do the same thing to both sides of an equation
svlad2 [7]
I haven't seen this video but the way I think of it is to compare the equation with a chemical balance.  Both sides have equal weights and the pointer is at zero. To maintain the pointer at zero if we add/take away a weight from one side we have to do the same thing on the other side.

Look at the table. Make a conjecture about the sum of the first 15 positive even numbers.
Olenka [21]
Be observing the table, we can write the following conjecture:

When adding consecutive even numbers, starting from 2 to m.

Then the sum is equal to:
\frac{m}{2}( \frac{m}{2} +1)

Then, the sum of the first 15 positive even numbers (which is the sum of 2 to 30) can be calculated with the previous conjecture by setting m=30:
\frac{m}{2}( \frac{m}{2} +1)=\frac{30}{2}( \frac{30}{2} +1)=(15)(16)=240

The answer is 240.
