According to the options stated, the one that is correct is letter C: “Twain's choice of this river for the setting adds a sense of adventure and also makes the novel seem believable”.

“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” takes place in St. Petersburg, Missouri, along the Mississippi River, in the 1840s. Although Tom Sawyer critiques much of American society in this seemingly light-hearted set of adventures, the small town and surrounding area is Tom’s playground for all the adventures he goes through in the novel.

Revise the sentence below to correct the lack of parallel structure. Be sure that your revised sentence uses
Ganezh [65]

Answer:

Eli is walking the dog after he had finished his homework

Explanation:

Parallelism is a technique in grammar where there is a balance created in a sentence by using the same verb forms or word forms so that the words would have a parallel meaning and be easily read and understood.

Therefore, rewriting this sentence, "The dog is being walked by Eli after Eli had finished his homework" to make it parallel and using the active voice and perfect tense would give us Eli is walking the dog after he had finished his homework.

k0ka [10]

it is not a matter of inference

the reason for Tan believing that "nonstandard English is no less valid than standard English" is related to the fact that Standard English’ was considered as a form of the English language, universal or common in the nineteenth century. By the 1930s, however, it was associated with social class and was seen by many as the language of the educated. On the contrary, speakers from lower classes in the past and today, tend to use nonstandard dialect features because they are more likely to have left education earlier, have non-professional jobs and have no need to associate themselves with a ‘prestige’ way of speaking.

Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

O, that I were a man for his sake! Or that I had any friend would be a man for my sake! But manhood is melted into curtsies, valor into compliment, and men are only turned into tongue, and trim ones, too. He is now as vallient as Hercules that only tells a lie and swears it. I cannot be a man with wishing; therefore I will die a woman with grieving

What is the message in these lines?

Explanation:

The lines quoted in question statement have been taken from Much Ado About Nothing written by famous writer Shakespeare.

The theme that can be deduced from the above lines is that at times people fail to honor the social integrity. There are few people who do the right thing to save their integrity, most find excuses that they couldn't do the right things becuase of some social or other barriers and are happy to live with that excuse like Beatrice in above paragraph, we accept dying believing there wasn’t really anything we could have done
