The sine and cosine graphs are identical, except that the cosine function is shifted left 1/4 cycle relative to the sine function. Both parent functions have a peak value of 1, and a period of 2π. The sine function is symmetrical about the origin (an odd function), and the cosine function is symmetrical about the y-axis (an even function).
