Read the excerpt from the article "Deforestation": Farmers often reduce the number of trees on their land, so that more crops ca

n be planted. This helps them produce and sell more crops. This is great for farmers, but it is harmful to plants and animals in the area. Many animals are losing their homes to deforestation. Some of these animals are endangered, which causes them to be at an even higher risk of extinction. Profits may be made, but at-risk animals are in danger of becoming extinct. Deforestation is usually planned, but at times, unplanned deforestation can occur for a few reasons. Forest fires can cause deforestation of many areas. These fires are hard to control and contain. Animals overgrazing is another problem that leads to deforestation. Too many animals can impact the growth of new trees and prevent new forests from developing. Select the statement that best describes the main idea of this excerpt. (2 points) a Animals are the biggest cause of deforestation. b Animals can both suffer from, and cause deforestation. c Animals cannot live where there are trees. d Animals overgrazing helps to prevent deforestation.

The last sentence is very formal. It does not contain the first person pronoun (I or me) which is one of the marks of informal writing. Having given you the answer, may I say that question is almost totally irrelevant. I do not mean that you are at fault for having asked it. You are only asking for an answer, and that was given.

What I really mean to say is that I hope you get to read more of Amy Tan's remarks about her mother's English. They are astonishing observations and should be required reading by every student taking English or American Literature.

Thank you for posting this question. I didn't there was more to Tan's essay about her mother's English that I didn't know about, and I'm glad to know there is more.

jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer:

The correct answers are:

11. brave – braver – bravest

12. distinct – more distinct – most distinct

13. bad – worse – worst

14. high – higher – highest

15. active – more active – most active

16. long – longer – longest

17. large – larger – largest

18. square – squarer – squarest

19. beautiful – more beautiful – most beautiful

20. eternal – absolute

21. practical – more practical – most practical

22. lazy – lazier – laziest

23. empty – emptier – emptiest

24. fat – fatter - fattest

Explanation:

We use comparative to compare similarities or differences between people and things.

We make comparative adjectives when we add the termination -er to the end of the word (for one-syllable words), or we use the form more + adjective (for two, three, or more syllable adjectives).

We use superlative to describe the extreme quality of things or persons.

We form the superlative when we add the termination -est at the end of an adjective or by using the construction most + adjective.

An absolute adjective represents a non-gradable adjective that does not have comparative or superlative, so it cannot be graded.

For example: dead, unique, ideal, eternal, sufficient, whole, etc.

6)
. 'Our living style is determined by climate!
Justify with examples .
GuDViN [60]

Our living style is determined by our climate because we have to dress depending on the weather. And example is, let’s say it’s a cold rainy day, you would want to wear a rain jacket and some leggings and UGGs boots, because that way your clothes would match the climate. Or, let’s say, you’re in the summer and it’s hot, so your house most likely will not have the heater on, and your living style is different compared to how you live in the winter.
