Answer:

The water also feels cool because water has a bigger specific heat than sand. Despite the water receiving the same amount of energy for the same amount of time as the sand, the water needs more energy to change one gram of the water one degree Celsius.

Explanation:

At a sunny day at the beach, the top of the sand is warm. The radiation from the Sun heats up the surface of the sand, but sand has a low thermal conductivity, so this energy stays at the surface of the sand. When you dig your feet into the sand it is cool below because the energy from the Sun was not transferred below the surface of the sand.

Water has a higher thermal conductivity, meaning the energy from the Sun is quickly transferred throughout the water, a big area. This means the heat will be even throughout the water, taking a lot more energy than is supplied to finally heat up the entire ocean. The water also feels cool because water has a bigger specific heat than sand. Despite the water receiving the same amount of energy for the same amount of time as the sand, the water needs more energy to change one gram of the water one degree Celsius. It takes 1 calorie of energy from the Sun to change one gram of the water one degree Celsius, while sand only needs 0.2 calories of energy from the Sun to change the same amount. This means it will take longer for the water to increase in temperature because water needs more energy to do so.

Another factor contributing to water temperature is the angle of the Sun. If the Sun is shining on the water from an angle, some of the light is reflected. When the light is reflected the energy is not being absorbed, so the temperature is not increasing as much. When the Sun is high in the sky above the water, the energy will be absorbed because the light is not being reflected.

A student wants to make a 0.150 M aqueous solution of silver (I) nitrate but only has 11.27 g of AgNO3. What volume of the 0.150
Usimov [2.4K]

Answer:

442.3 mL

Explanation:

Remember that Molarity is a measure of concentration in Chemistry and it's defined as the number of moles of the substance divided by liters of the solution:

M=\frac{Moles of substance X}{Volume of the solution}

Then, you can express 11.27 g of AgNO3 as moles of AgNO3 using the molar mass of the compound:

11.27 g AgNO_{3} *\frac{1 mole AgNO_{3}}{169.87 g AgNO_{3}} = 0.06634 moles AgNO_{3}

Then you can solve for the volume of the solution:

Volume of the solution=\frac{Moles of AgNO_{3}}{M} =\frac{0.06634 mol AgNO_{3}}{0.150 M} =0.4423 L = 442.3 mL

Hope it helps!

Draw the structure for the ring compounds with formulas C6H12 and C6H6
GenaCL600 [577]
The first compound C6H12 is cyclohexane and the other compound C6H6 is benzene. They are both aromatic compounds. Cyclohexane does not have double bonds in its ring while benzene has three double bonds in its ring. This is why the formula for cyclohexane contains 12 carbon atoms while benzene only has 6.

As the number of protons increases but the distance between the protons and electron REMAINS THE SAME...
Aloiza [94]

Answer:

The correct option is;

The electronegativity increases

Explanation:

The electronegativity is the measure of an atom's ability to attract a shared electron pair. The electronegativity of an atom is dependent on the atom's atomic number and the separation distance between the electrons in the valence shell and the positively charged nucleus such that an increase in the atomic number results in an increase in electronegativity and an increase in the distance between the valence electrons and the nucleus, leads to a decrease in electronegativity.
