The nucleus of a cell surrounds the genetic material with a membrane. Other structures called organelles are also surrounded by membranes. The membranes around the organelles both protect and isolate, helping the organelles work more efficiently. Organelles perform various vital tasks, and each organelleglossary term (opens in a new window) has a specific structure related to its function. Organelles provide the cell with energy, excrete waste products, and make proteins. All eukaryotic cells also have a plasma membrane that envelopes the entire cell. The membrane has many passages through it. These passages chemically control what can enter or leave the cell. All eukaryotic cells also have cytoplasm. This jelly-like fluid fills the cell’s interior and contains thread-like proteins that help the cell keep its shape.

Answer:

The unified cell theory states that: all living things are composed of one or more cells; the cell is the basic unit of life; and new cells arise from existing cells. The cell is the fundamental unit of structure and function in living things. All organisms are made up of one or more cells. The cell is the basic unit of structure and organization in organisms. Cells arise from pre-existing cells. A cell is the smallest unit that is typically considered alive and is a fundamental unit of life. All living organisms are composed of cells, from just one unicellular to many trillions multicellular.        I hope i helped you

Describe the mutation in a plant that could have a negative outcome for the organism
iris [78.8K]
A mutation in a plant that could cause negative outcomes could be the plant has less leaves, or isn't hardy enough, like other plants. It would die. A plant from an area like Chernobyl, that has been affected by radiation could poison other animals, or pass that gene along, and ultimately kill that strand of plant.

How many neutrons does element x have if it’s atomic number is 22 and it’s mass number is 75?
MAXImum [283]

Chem was fun last year XD

Anyway..

To find how many neutrons are in element x:

We take the mass number and subtract it with the atomic number

So, 75-22=53 neutrons...BOOM! :D

Which of the following occurs most often in a population when genetic variation and overproduction are present?
aalyn [17]

Overproduction is a natural phenomenon in which the number of produced offspring is higher than the number of individuals the ecosystem can sustain. Thus, competition for limited resources occurs.

Because of the genetic variation, the organisms within a population have different chances to reproduce. Most often, some organisms have a lower reproductive success than others do.

The number of individuals with a high reproductive success is rather low as few males are very successful at passing on their genetic material.

The number of organisms with no reproductive success is also very low, as these "ill adapted" individuals will disappear from the population extremely quickly.

Genetic variation is the amount of differences between individuals. Thus, no organism taken by itself has any genetic variation.
