Scrat [10]

Following the Civil War, the Radical Republicans in Congress regarded the southern states as conquered territory (D). Southern states began to issue a series of controversial state laws where the law is known as the Black Code.

EXPLANATION

The Black Code varies from one country to another. Some countries don't allow someone to marry or be a witness in court. In essence, it becomes a new era of slavery system after the civil war. These countries cannot yet move on from slavery. They feel comfortable with such a social structure. Coupled with the assumption that slavery will smooth the course of their economic wheels.

This black code clearly codified white supremacy, where other races, especially the black race, were deprived of their basic rights. They were forbidden to choose, buying or even rent. Once again, slavery is considered to have been a pillar of economic stability in their pre-war countries. With the black code, we can be sure that the same stability can be present again under the phrase "free labor system".

The Black Code also has curbed many African-American (post-war) orphans. They were handed over to white plantation owners who forced them to work. Every slave who tried to violate or avoid this heinous contract would be tortured, fined, or imprisoned. After the detention period, the slaves who seemed to be "free" did not know where to go, especially at the end the system which made them have to go back to work without pay. This is basically more systematic slavery. Although slavery was legally prohibited by the Thirteenth Amendment, yet it continues.

what does the biography take away from the autobiography? How does autobiographical and biographical narratives help historians?
HACTEHA [7]

1. The biography and the autobiography have lot of things in common, but they also have few differences. The biggest and most important difference between the two is that the biography is written for someone by someone else, while the autobiography is written by person himself/herself it is about. This leads us to say that the biography is taking away the personal opinion and person expressions of the person whose life is described, as it only offers the perspective from the other people, or a single person.

2. The biography and the autobiography are of great help for the historians. The biography offers the view of a particular person for the person in question, be it the action that person has done, the physical appearance, the character etc. The autobiography, on the other hand, gives clues about how the person in question has viewed himself/herself, and how that person was seeing the world and their own actions and behavior. Both combined, give a nice perspective from two sides, which gives clues about the real historical events.
