   The story, "sound of Thunder" is science fiction story by Ray Bradbury; it took place in 2055. Eckels a hunter payed 10,000 to travel back in time to kill a colossal dinosaur (Tyrannosaurus Rex). The last sound of thunder was  from Travis's gun after he shot it. The way the story ended was on a cliff hanger, Ray Bradbury is known to ending his stories as cliff hangers.  We didn't know if Travis had committed (no life)  or shot Eckles.

I believe the correct answer is to help the reader visualize a view where water and sky are difficult to tell apart.
The author is trying to portray an image where the water and the sky are somehow blending into each other - you can't tell where one ends and the other one begins, because both items are colored similarly - various shades of blue.
