A car uses a gallon of gas for every 45 miles driven. Identify the
otez555 [7]

Answer:

O Dependent: miles; Independent: gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

An independent variable is one which can stand alone. Its values is not affected(gets changed) by change in other variable.

Example : your age

value of your age will not change in other factor like how much you run, sleep etc.

A dependent variable is one which cannot stand alone. Its values gets affected(gets changed) by change in other variable.

Example : weight: weight of human is dependent on food you eat and hence more you eat more is the chance of weight being increased.

hence, weight is dependent variable.

_______________________________________________________

Given

A car uses a gallon of gas for every 45 miles driven.

thus, there are two variable, which as identified is

miles and gallons

given that

in 1 gallon , car gets driven 45 miles

so if there are n gallons car will get driven 45*2 = 90 miles

in there are n gallons,  car will get driven 45*n= 45n miles

hence , miles is dependent on no of gallons hence

miles is dependent variable.

thus, we see there is relationship between miles and gallon as

miles = 45n,  where n is the no of gallons

here no of gallons is independent variable as its value can stand alone, its value does not change with miles.

hence

gallons is independent variable.

thus,

correct choice is

O Dependent: miles; Independent: gallons
