60 points on the line! If you can do this paper! Only 2 questions!
Stolb23 [73]
So y=mx+b
the 'm' part means the slope which is found by 'rise/run'
a. y=2x+3 or y=2x+3
b. y=-1x+6
c. i'm not sure what this part means
d. this means 'what values will work for x and y in both equations at once so
y=-x+6 and y=2x+3
y=-x+6
add x to both sides
x+y=6
subtitute 'y=2x+3' for y in x+y=6
x+(2x+3)=6
collect like terms
3x+3=6
subtract 3 from both sides
3x=3
divide both sides by 3
x=1
sibtitue into x+y=6
1+y=6
subtract 1 from both sides
y=5

(1,5) is the solution (x,y)

Question 2
so amount of peanuts (x) =60%
ammount of almonds (y)=40%
y=2(1/3x) or y=2/3x
so there is a mixture that is8/10 almonds
for
a. i'm not sure about this one
b. so 60% of 5 pounds=3 pounds
40% of 5 pounds=2pounds
we need to find out how many pounds, times 8/10, = 2pounds

 she will need 2.5 pounds of the pure peanuts and 2.5 pounds of the almond-peanut mixture

Find the x and y intercepts.
Roman55 [17]
-3/4x + 5/6 y = 15

Multiply through by 6

-9/2x + 5y = 90

Add 9/2x to both sides

5y = 90 + 9/2x

Divide both sides by 5

y = 18 + 9/10x

y = 9/10x + 18
Comparing with the general equation of a straight line y = mx + c

Gradient (m) = 9/10 or 0.9
and the y - intercept (c) = 18

On the 40th birthday, Mr. Ramos decided to buy a pension plan for himself. This plan will allow him to claim
Mama L [17]

Answer:

The amount of one-time payment should he make on his 40th birthday to pay off his pension plan is P32,880.77.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Calculation of present value on 3 months after his 60th birthday

The present value on 3 months after his 60th birthday can be calculated using the formula for calculating the present value of an ordinary annuity as follows:

PV60 = Q * ((1 - (1 / (1 + r))^n) / r) …………………………………. (1)

Where;

PV60 = present value on 3 months after his 60th birthday = ?

Q = quarterly claim = P10,000

r = quarterly interest rate = annual interest rate / 4 = 8% / 4 = 0.08 / 4 = 0.02

n = number of quarters = number of years * Number of quarters in a year = 5 * 4 = 20

Substitute the values into equation (1), we have:

PV60 =  P10,000 * ((1 - (1 / (1 + 0.02))^20) / 0.02)

PV60 = P10,000 * 16.3514333445971

PV60 = P163,514.33

Step 2: Calculation of one-time payment on his 40th birthday

The one-time payment can be calculated using the formula the following formula:

PV = PV60 / (1 + r)^n ........................ (2)

Where;

PV = Present value or One-time payment = ?

PV60 = present value on 3 months after his 60th birthday = P163,514.33

r = quarterly interest rate = annual interest rate / 4 = 8% / 4 = 0.08 / 4 = 0.02

n = number of quarters from 40th to 3 months after his 60th birthday = (number of years * Number of quarters in a year) + One quarter = (20 * 4) + 1 = 81

Substitute the values into equation (2), we have:

PV = P163,514.33 / (1 + 0.02)^81 = P32,880.77

Therefore, the amount of one-time payment should he make on his 40th birthday to pay off his pension plan is P32,880.77.
