What was the function of the opera “Carmen”, released in 1875 by Georges Bizet?
VLD [36.1K]

Answer:

Carmen is an opera by Georges Bizet.

Explanation:

The main character of this opera is a free-spirited Spanish gypsy who is immoral when it comes to both law and her behavior. The event of this topic is set in Spain. She's shown as an attractive individual who draws all the attention to herself, and everyone's eyes are on her, but Don Jose's, a soldier that has no interest in her.  She then throws a flower at him, which he wanted to throw away, but decided to keep it. A fight breaks in between Carmen and some other lady and Jose must arrest her. As flirtatious as she is, she decides to seduce him and he being smitten with her, loses his focus and she escapes, while Jose is being arrested. A month later, she is waiting for Jose to come back from jail. She was very happy to see him and she gave him a stimulating dance. She then insisted that they run away together and that he would do it if he really loved her. He didn't like the idea but at the end, her ran away with her as he had no choice since his lieutenant came back to arrest her and the fight between them occurred. They ran away to the mountains but as the time passed by, she, being the free-spirited lady she is, has no intention of settling down and she became very bored with Jose in short time. The closing act shows us the murder of Carmen, who was stabbed to death by Jose, because she didn't want a life with him and stated that she '' was born free and will die free '' .
