The tomb with the glorious mask was discovered in 1922. by Howard Carter. It was completely untouched, which was unique for the tomb, as they usually were raided and robbed. The mask weighs over 10 kilograms and is made out of pure gold, with colored glass and gemstones. There are protective spells inscribed over the mask which should protect the dead. These death masks were used in order for the spirit to recognize the body after death.

Tutankhamun's mask is presented in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
