I know I'm late but I too am taking the Phenomenon #2 Assessment (Part 1) and want to help any future readers : )

(I pretty much gave you guys the answer but the little facts might still help, so I didn't give the direct answer in the start)

Explanation:

Mitosis: A type of cell division that results in 2 identical daughter cells.

* Process responsible for us getting bigger

*Process that repairs damaged cells

*grows new skin for us when cut

(took this out of my teachers lesson/ CC)

While...

Cell differentiation is:

Same DNA, just different genes get expressed!

This is the reason we look different are we get older! (Not the reason we grow)

^ This above are the 2 people most likely think are the answers

Good luck : )

Extra:

Meiosis:

A type of cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes in half.

What word is used to describe the reaction that uses water to break apart a large molecule?
Maru [420]
The answer is hydrolysis.

The word hydrolysis comes from two Greek words:
hydro - water
lysis - to unbind

So, hydrolysis is a reaction of breaking apart (unbinding) large molecules using water. For example, sucrose or table sugar is disaccharide made of two monosaccharides: fructose and glucose. Hydrolysis of sucrose means that water molecule break apart sucrose, i.e. unbind fructose and glucose.

In which part of the cell do ribosomes complete protein synthesis?
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer: nucleus

Explanation: In eukaryotes, ribosomes get their orders for protein synthesis from the nucleus, where portions of DNA (genes) are transcribed to make messenger RNAs (mRNAs). An mRNA travels to the ribosome, which uses the information it contains to build a protein with a specific amino acid sequence.

An earthworm has 36 chromosomes in each of its diploid cells. how many chromosomes would be in each of its gametes?
Troyanec [42]

18 chromosomes would be in each of its gametes.

What are chromosomes?

the nucleus of most living cells contains a threadlike structure made of nucleic acids and proteins that carries genetic information in the form of genes.

There are 23 pairs of chromosomes in humans. The chromosome's distinctive structure helps to increase the integrity of the DNA while also keeping it securely packed with histone proteins to fit within the cell. For instance, a single cell's DNA will be 6 feet long when unraveled; from this, it is clear why each cell's nucleus needs to be packaged.

according to the given information:

number of chromosomes: 36

36√2 is 18

18 chromosomes would be in each gamete.

Nuts and grains are fruits.
a. True
b. False
nordsb [41]
As for this question of true or false, the most probable answer and the most likely answer for this would be true.

Nuts and grains are considered to be dry fruits. What people usually think when the word fruits come into mind is usually the ones that are fleshy and juicy and the seeds are inside. Well, for nuts and grains, the seeds are also inside but what we eat are the seeds itself. Though they may be referred interchangeably in everyday conversations, it is understood that nuts and grains are both fruits.
