Answer: Shana bought 2 sodas.

Shana bought 5 bags of popcorn.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let S represent the number of sodas that Shana bought.

Let B represent the number of bags of popcorn that Shana bought.

Shana bought 7 things from the concession., all either sodas or bags of popcorn. This means that

S + B = 7

Sodas cost $3 each and popcorn cost $4 per bag. Shana spent a total of $26. This means that

3S + 4B = 26 - - - - - - - - - - - - -1

Substituting S = 7 - B into equation 1, it becomes

3(7 - B) + 4B = 26

21 - 3B + 4B = 26

- 3B + 4B = 26 - 21

B = 5

S = 7 - B = 7 - 5

S = 2

Katherine buys a tv with a normal price of $200 and she has a 25% off coupon. How much money did she save????
andrey2020 [161]

Given:

Normal price of a tv = $200

Coupon = 25% off

To find:

The money saved by Katherine.

Solution:

Katherine buys a tv with a normal price of $200 and she has a 25% off coupon. It means, the money saved by Katherine is 25% of normal price of tv, i.e., $200.

Saving=25\%\text{ of }200

Saving=\dfrac{25}{100}\times 200

Saving=25\times 2

Saving=50

Therefore, the money saved by Katherine is $50.

A square patio has an area of 200 square feet. How long is each side of the patio to the nearest tenth?
Darya [45]
If patio is square it means that area of if is A=a^2 where a is one side
Now we can substitute A=200 and solve eq
a^2=200
a=\sqrt{200}
a=14.1421
Now we are rounding to the nearest tenths
a=14.1 because next number is 4 and is less then 5.
The result is 14.1

Can somebody explain this to
beks73 [17]

Check the picture below.

slope = m = \cfrac{rise}{run} \implies \cfrac{ f(x_2) - f(x_1)}{ x_2 - x_1}\impliedby \begin{array}{llll} average~rate\\ of~change \end{array}\\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ \begin{cases} x_1=0\\ x_2=2 \end{cases}\implies \cfrac{f(x_2)-f(x_1)}{2-0}\implies \cfrac{0~~ - ~~1}{2}\implies -\cfrac{1}{2}

Evaluate (101.5)²-(100.5)²
makvit [3.9K]

You can exploit the difference-of-squares identity,

<em>a</em>² - <em>b</em>² = (<em>a</em> - <em>b</em>) (<em>a</em> + <em>b</em>)

Then

101.5² - 100.5² = (101.5 - 100.5) * (101.5 + 100.5)

101.5² - 100.5² = 1 * 202

101.5² - 100.5² = 202
