One of the historical figures that contributed the most to American society was Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was an activist and a minister that had a vision. A vision of a world where his children would be judged by character traits and not by the color of their skin. He was a leader of Civil Rights Movement and an advocate for nonviolent protests. When Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man in 1955. , the incident lit the fuse in Civil Rights Movement. Through his passion and strategy he wanted to show that they are not going to take it any longer. King became the leader in a 381 dayed boycott of the city buses. When the supreme court ruled segregated buses to be unconstitutional it was a huge victory for Civil Rights Movement and proved King's nonviolent methods of protest could yield results.
Threats and personal attacks never stopped for King nor his family. He was arrested over twenty times, his house was firebombed yet he was still a fearless leader who wrote 5 books and delivered over 200 speeches but none stood the test of time like his ''I have a dream'' speech that was delivered from the steps of The Lincoln Memorial in 1963. where more than 250,000 people both black and white gathered to listen.
