Sovereignty in relation to international governance is liberal international sovereignty, that is, a set of entities that exercise Global governance.

Some examples of Global governance institutions are:

  • United Nations
  • International Criminal Court
  • World Bank

Global governance exists to negotiate issues that affect countries around the world, such as economic, social and environmental issues that affect the sustainable development of nations.

The Global governance regime is bureaucratic, regularized, codified and rational. Therefore, institutions that exercise international governance have limited power, with enforcement of designated rules and laws on a global scale.
