Answer:

1.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello, I think I can help you with this

Step one

to find the correct conversion factor , the data must be defined

according to the drawing the balance is in balance when:

6 pounds=4 blocks

step two

using a rule of three to find the number of pound per block

6 pounds =4 blocks

x pounds= 1 Block

6 pounds/4 blocks =x pounds/1 block

x=( 6 pound * 1 Block)/4 blocks

x=1.5

1.5 is the factor, this means,that if you have x number of blocks , you must multiply for 1.5 to find the total of pounds

y=1.5 x

where x is the number of blocks and y is the weight of those blocks( in pounds)

I hope it helps, have a great day

A 100% increase followed by a 50% decrease
just olya [345]

Answer:

We end up with our original number

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be our number

We increase by 100

increase = old number * 100%

increase = x*1

increase = x

New number = old number + increase

                       = x+x

                         =2x

Now we decrease by 50%

decrease = number *50%

                = 2x*.5

                =x

Final number = new number - decrease

                       = 2x-x

                         =x

Suppose Celine wants to choose a box that maximizes the amount of cereal it can hold. Volume of Box 1: 3x5 Volume of Box 2: 4x5
finlep [7]

The correct answer is:

Box 2

Explanation:

In these expressions, x represents the width of the box. We are asked about widths greater than 1; let's us 1.1 as an example:

Box 1:

3(1.1⁵) = 4.83153

Box 2:

4(1.1⁵)-(1.1⁴) = 6.44204 - 1.4641 = 4.97794

With a difference as small as a tenth, the volume of box 2 is larger. The larger the difference in width, the larger the difference in volume, and the volume of box 2 will be larger every time.
