Solution:

Total number of seats in the plane = 57

From MSY to DFW = 44 passangers

From DFW to OKL = 49 passangers

From OKL to TUL = 36 passangers

From TUL to FWB = 30 passangers

From FWB to MYS = 49 passangers

So the average number of seats filled per flight

                                                                = (44+49+36+30+49) / 5

                                                                 = 208/5

                                                                  = 41.6

For the last 5 flights Load factor = Average number of seats filled per flight / Total number of seats in the plane

= 41.6 / 57

= 0.7298

= 72.9%

So for the last five flights the load factor was 72.9%

The Sisyphean Company has a bond outstanding with a face value of $1000 that reaches maturity in 15 years. The bond certificate
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

The Price of this bond is $1,044.57

Explanation:

Price of the bond is the present value of all cash flows of the bond. These cash flows include the coupon payment and the maturity payment of the bond. Both of these cash flows discounted and added to calculate the value of the bond.

According to given data

Face value of the bond is $1,000

Coupon payment = C = $1,000 x 8% = $80 annually = $40 semiannually

Number of periods = n = 15 years x 2 = 30 period

Market Rate = 7.5% annually = 3.75% semiannually

Price of the bond is calculated by following formula:

Price of the Bond = C x [ ( 1 - ( 1 + r )^-n ) / r ] + [ F / ( 1 + r )^n ]

Price of the Bond = 40 x [ ( 1 - ( 1 + 3.75% )^-30 ) / 3.75% ] + [ $1,000 / ( 1 + 3.75% )^30 ]

Price of the Bond = $713.17 + $331.40 = $1,044.57

Natalie has been offered the two choices to finance her new $35,000 car, and she needs help knowing which to take. One option is
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

Explanation:

To find out what Natalie would give as a monthly installment, we first need to calculate the monhly payment on a $35000 loan with 7.5% interest rate for 48 months using present value annuity formual.

PV = 35000

r= 7.5% = 7.5%/12 = 0.00625

t = 48

PMT = monthly payments

PMT = (r*PV) / [1 - (1+r)-n]

  =( 0.00625* 35000) / [1-(1+0.00625)-48 ]

     = 218.75 / [ 1 - (1.00625)-48 ]

     = 218.75 / [ 1 - 0.74151 ]

     = 218.75 / 0.25849

     =$846.26

Monthly payment of $846.26

Total Cost = Monthly payment * 48

  =$40620.56

For second loan  option

r = 4.5%/12 = 0.00375

n = 36

PV = $35000

Using same formual

PMT = (r*PV) / [1 - (1+r)-n]

  =( 0.00375* 35000) / [1-(1+0.00375)-36 ]

  = 131.25 / [1 - (1.00375)-36 ]

  = 131.25 / [ 1 - 0.873937 ]

  = 131.25 / [ 0.126063

  = $1041.42

Monthly payment of $1041.42

Total payment = 1041.42*36

     = $37481.12

Thus, the 48 month or 4 year loan has monthly payment of $846.26 and total cost of $40620.56

And , the 36 month or 3 year loan has monthly payment of $1041.42 and total cost of $37481.12

Anna007 [38]

Answer:

Take $1m, translate into yen at the spot, invest in Japan, hedge with a short position in the forward contract.

Explanation:

a ) $1,000,000 x 1.810 = 18,100 interest revenue

c)

convert into yen:

$1,000,000 x 100Y = 100,000,000Y

invest in Japan:

100,000,000Y x 13% = 113,000,000Y

short position in the forward contract:

113,000,000Y  / 110Y = 1,027,272.727

return:

1,027,272.72 - 1,000,000 = 27,272.72

b) We are unware of the future spot rate, so it is better to use the forward contract and have no risk in the investment

d) incorrect.

there is no "spot contract" and we cannot convert to yen at the forward rate now. is in the future and only if we agre to sign the forward contract
