Chris is in pain that there's an aspect of Starr's life that she had hidden from him.

Explanation:

Starr says that she hid this from him because she was afraid to be judged for coming from what she calls "The Ghetto." Chris wants to know why and she doesn't trust him enough to give him the chance to prove her incorrect. Hope this helps!
