Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=5

3x-2y+5=0

3x-2y= -5

x+y=5...... equation 1

3x-2y= -5....... equation 2

there fore make x the subject of the formula in equation 1

x=5-y.. equation 3

substitute equation three in equation 2

3(5-y)-2y=-5

15y-3y-2y=-5

10y=-5

divide both sides by 10

y=-5/10

y=-½

substitute y into equation 1

x+(-½)=5

x=5+½

x=5½

x=5½,y= -½

x = 14

Explanation:

height = x

base 1 = 98

base 2 = 2

Using altitude formula in geometric mean:

base 1/height = height/base 2

98/x = x/2

\begin{gathered} \frac{98}{x}=\frac{x}{2} \\ \text{cross multiply:} \\ 2(98)\text{ = x}\times x \end{gathered}\begin{gathered} 196=x^2 \\ \text{square root both sides:} \\ \sqrt[]{196}\text{ = }\sqrt[]{x^2} \\ x\text{ = }\sqrt[]{196} \\ x\text{ = 14} \end{gathered}

Consider the region bounded by
Montano1993 [528]
The equation is a circle centered at the origin with radius 8 (sqrt(64))
Therefore, the bounded region is just a quarter circle in the first quadrant.

Riemann Sum: ∑⁸ₓ₋₋₀(y²)Δx=∑⁸ₓ₋₋₀(64-x²)Δx

Definite Integral: ∫₀⁸(y²)dx=∫₀⁸(64-x²)dx

Knowing that the result of expanding (x+a)(x-6) is x²+mx-48, find the values of a and m.
Citrus2011 [14]

We know -48 came from (a)(-6), the "L" in "FOIL".

If -48 = -6a, then a = 8.

Now with a=8, go ahead and FOIL (x+8)(x-6) to find m.
