A Counselor is known for their specific duties. When a counselor must render a DSM-5 diagnosis, the counselor  must render the proper diagnosis, whether or not the client will be reimbursed.

  • Counselors are known to often use the DSM-5 and with it gives feedback directly to the APA. This has helped to shape diagnostic tool as well as affect future works on it.

DSM–5 is known to be a laid  out manual for assessment and diagnosis of mental disorders. But it does not have information or guidelines for treatment of any disorder.
