Simple or compound: the students cleaned up after they finished the experiment

English
1 answer:
Lorico [155]2 years ago
8 0

Answer: It is a simple sentence.

Explanation:

Compound sentences contain a FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) coordinating conjunction following a comma. Since this sentence does not contain a FANBOYS conjunction after a comma, it is a simple sentence.

example compound sentence:

I was hungry, so I made myself a sandwich.

example simple sentence:

I made myself a sandwich because I was hungry.

PLEASE HELP ME DUE ASAP I REALLY NEED HELP THERE ARE 4 QUESTIONS!!!
Marina CMI [18]

1.) both A and D are technically phrases that modify the subject since both use the pronoun "his" which is referring to "Jerome"(subject). I think the more likely to be

D since the phrase is more obvious because it's a prepositional phrase instead of a gerund.

2.) the answer is C because it contsins a subject(show), a verb(let), but begins with a suboordinatin conjunction (after) which means the clause needs an independent clause in order to support it. The rest of the of the

options are phrases, and C could easily be mistaken as a phase considering it starts with "after" which is a preposition. However, because the remark contains a subject and a verb, the word "after" becomes a suboordinating conjunction instead of a preposition.

3.) D is correct because it contains a single independent clause (it was time to get out the sweaters) along with at least one dependent clause (When the birds flew south for the winter).

4.) C is correct because it contains a single independent clause (Andrea could not open the mailbox) along with at least one dependent clause (Since she forgot the key to the lock).

Can you elaborate on what took place in Act III?
Assoli18 [71]

The correct answer is A) In Act III, Juliette grieves for Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s banishment but is relatively controlled and reasonable in her reactions.

What took place in Act III is that Juliette grieves for Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s banishment but is relatively controlled and reasonable in her reactions.

Juliet is the Capulet’s house sad and worried because she does know nothing about Romeo. All of a sudden, the Nurse bring the news about the fight between Romeo and Tybalt. Juliette cries for Tybalt’s death and laments that Romeo was sent to exile for the killing of Tybalt. The nurse knows where he is and tells Juliette that he soon will be visiting her.

Commonlit -Langston Hughes' hidden influence on MLK
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

A Despite not explicitly discussing Hughes or his poetry, King etc.

Explanation:

As the title Langston Hughes' Hidden influence on MLK clearly shows, the central idea is the non-visible (at first sight) influence of Langston Hughes on MLK. Due to the fact that MLK didn´t explicitly discussed or mentioned L. Hughes, his influence is, therefore, hidden.
