So don't over complicate it. If you struggle with it the normal way here is something I always recommend to the kids I tutor. Look for multiplication then use that to help with division. like how you can check subtraction with addition

45 degreese is used in a pie chart to reperesent 6 people. How many people were there altogehter?
KatRina [158]
We can solve this problem by the rule of three.
A complete pie chart has 360º.

45º----------------------6 people
360º--------------------    x

x=(360º*6 people) / 45º=48 people.

Answer; 48 people.

1. The curve y = (x - 1)(x – 5) cuts the x-axis at A and B and the y-axis at C.
saveliy_v [14]
So the first two questions are asking for points of intercept. a is asking where the function crosses the x, in this case it is where y=0. So your x intercept is at x= 1,5. Then to find the y intercept it is where x=0, so just substitute 0 for x. Then you get your y intercept as y=5. Because your coefficient for the quadratic function is positive your function has a minimum since it opens upward. I’m not sure what is means by C coordinate, but your vertex is at (3,-4) and lime of symmetry is at x=3.

X intercepts: (1,0) and (5,0)
Y intercept: (0,5)

a rock is thrown from the top of a tall building. the distance, in feet, between the rock and the ground x seconds after it is t
frez [133]

Answer:

1.5 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Since f(x) represents the distance from the ground to the rock (in feet), we just need to find the values of x for which f(x) = 340. Substituting f(x) = 340 into f(x) = -16x² - 4x + 382 gives us:

340 = -16x² - 4x + 382

0 = -16x² - 4x + 42 (Subtract 340 from both sides)

16x² + 4x - 42 = 0  (Multiply entire equation by -1, "flip" equation)

8x² + 2x - 21 = 0    (Divide entire equation by 2)

(4x + 7)(2x - 3) = 0  (Factor LHS)

4x + 7 = 0 or 2x - 3 = 0 (Zero Product Property)

4x = -7 or 2x = 3 (Subtract -7 and add 3 from/to both sides, respectively)

x = -\frac{7}{4} = -1.75 or  x =\frac{3}{2} = 1.5

x = -1.75 is an extraneous solution because in the context of the question, you can't have negative seconds so therefore, the final answer is 1.5 seconds.

Hope this helps!
