Answer:

D

0.4

Step-by-step explanation:

P(A)=0.6

P(B)=0.3

P(B∩A)=0.5

P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A∩B)

P(A or B)=P(A∪B)=0.6+0.3-0.5=0.9-0.5=0.4

Given Information:

Principle amount = P = $6,000

Interest rate = r = 4% = 0.04

Period in years = t = 5

Required Information:

How much interest will he earn in 5 years = ?

Answer:

Amount of interest = $1,299.92

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the formula given in the question,

B = P(1 + r )^{t}

Where B is the final amount, P is the initial amount, r is the interest rate and t is the number of years

B = P(1 + r )^{t}\\\\B = 6,000(1 +  0.04)^{5}\\\\B = 7,299.92

The amount of interest earned is

Amount \:of\: interest = B - P \\\\Amount \:of \:interest = 7,299.92 - 6,000\\\\Amount \:of \:interest = 1,299.92

Therefore, Quincy has earned $1,299.92 in terms of interest by investing  $6,000 in a savings account at the rate of 4% annual interest for a period of 5 years.

A survey of 500 high school students was taken to determine their favorite chocolate candy. Of the 500 students surveyed, 64 lik
Lyrx [107]

Answer:

466 student

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of students that like at most 2 kinds of these chocolate candies can be gotten from subtracting the number of students that like more than 2 candies from the total number of high school students.

Since 34 like all three kinds of chocolate candy, hence:

Number of students that like at most 2 kinds of these chocolate candies = 500 - 34 = 466

466 students like at most 2 kinds of these chocolate candies

The school cafeteria served three kinds of lunches today to 225 students. The students chose the cheeseburgers three times more
r-ruslan [8.4K]

1)

Let the number of fish sandwiches sold br represented by x

Then the number of grilled cheese sold is 2X

and the number of cheeseburgers 3(2x)

x + 2x + 3(2x) = 225

and solve

2)

Let x represent the no. of pounds of peanuts

Then x + 14 represents the no of pounds of the mixture

And

(2.25)x + (3.25)(14) = (2.65)(x + 14

and solve

3) Try on your own

Approximate the zeros of the function. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary. f(x) = 4x^2 + 4x - 35. Explain each step on how
svet-max [94.6K]
4x²+4x-35=0
factor: (2x+7)(2x-5)=0
2x+7=0, or 2x-5=0
2x=-7 or 2x=5
x=-3.5 or x=2.5

I don't see any rounding necessary in this case.

when you factor ax²+bx+c, you take the two factors of a and the two factors of c, one factor of a times one factor of c, the other factor of a times the other factors, the sum of the two products make b.
in this case, the factors of 4 is 2 and 2, the factors of -35 is -5 and 7. I line them up in the following way:
2    -5

2      7
then I multiple them diagonally, the top left 2 multiplying the bottom right 7=14, and the other 2 multiplying -5=-10, 14 and -10 make a sum of 4.

if you don't get the desired sum, switch the factors up and down till you have the right combination. Note: Do not switch left and right.

I hope this makes sense to you.
