Why is the nitrogen cycle important?
pishuonlain [190]

Nitrogen is important to life because it is a key part of amino and nucleic acids. Also, it is an important part of ATP, which is the basic energy molecule for living things. Neither plants or animals can obtain nitrogen directly from the atmosphere. Instead, they depend on a process known as nitrogen fixation.

What is the purpose of the hormone thyroxine, which is produced by the thyroid gland?
shepuryov [24]

The principal function of thyroxine is to stimulate the consumption of  oxygen and thus the metabolism of all cells and tissues.

Thyroxine is termed T4. It travels through the blood to the target cells and becomes converted to triiodothyronine  or T3.

T3 is the active form of thyroxine. T3 enters the target cell's nucleus binding to genes responsible  or involved  in the metabolism of sugar in the body. T3 stimulates these genes and in so doing metabolism (conversion of oxygen and calories to energy) is carried out by the cell, which also results in generation of body heat.

Prophase 1, metaphase 1, anaphase 1, telophase 1, prophase 2, metaphase 2, anaphase 2, telophase 2

3. •The steps of mitosis and phase 1 of meiosis are similar
•Cells undergo Cytokinesis (they divide)
• DNA and chromosomes play a vital role in both

4. •mitosis results in 2 cells and meiosis results in 4 cells
