This is the factor that did not contribute to the growth of suburbs. The land in major cities was not inexpensive. In fact, this land was extremely expensive, and it was this factor (among many others) which pushed people out of cities. The fact that land was unaffordable led to the creation of suburbs in areas that were farther away from the cities, but were easily accessible by automobiles.
