\qquad❄️\boxed{\bf x = 7}\\\\

We are given –

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\bf 8x -2 y =48

  • And also value of y's given. So, just put the value of y in the given equation.

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\sf  8x - \underbrace{2 \times 4} =48

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\sf  8x - 8 =48

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\sf  8x = 48 +8

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\sf  8x = 56

\qquad \twoheadrightarrow\sf  x =\cancel{\dfrac{56}{8}}

\qquad \purple{\twoheadrightarrow\bf x= 7}

  • Henceforth, value of x is 7.

Hey there!

8x - 2y = 48

8x - 2(4) = 48

8x - 8 = 48

ADD 8 to BOTH SIDES

8x - 8 + 8 = 48 + 8

CANCEL out: -8 + 8 because it give you 1

KEEP: 48 + 8 because it help solve for the x-value

NEW EQUATION: 8x = 48 + 8

SIMPLIFY IT!

8x = 56

DIVIDE 8 to BOTH SIDES

8x/8 = 56/8

CANCEL out: 8/8 because it give you 1

KEEP: 56/8 because it help solve for the x-value

NEW EQUATION: x = 56/8

SIMPLIFY IT!

x = 7

Therefore, your answer is: x = 7

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!

7) In Problem 6 we poured a large and a small bowl of cereal from a box. Suppose the amount of cereal that the manufacturer puts
olga_2 [115]

Question:

The amount of cereal that can be poured into a small bowl varies with a mean of 1.5 ounces and a standard deviation of 0.3 ounces. A large bowl holds a mean of 2.5 ounces with a standard deviation of 0.4 ounces. You open a new box of cereal and pour one large and one small bowl.

Answer:

a) The expected amount of cereal left in the box is 12.2 ounces

b) The standard deviation  \sigma_{x+y+z}, is 0.5099

c) In a Normal model, the probability that the box still contains more than 13 ounces is P(Z-(X+Y) > 13) = 5.821 %.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X represent the amount of cereal that can be poured into a small bowl and Y represent the amount of cereal that can be poured into a large bowl and Z represent the amount of cereal that the manufacturer puts in the box, then the expected amount of cereal left in the box is given by

Z - (X + Y)

(a) The expected amount of cereal left in the box is given as

P(Z - (X + Y)) = μ = μ_Z - μ_X - μ_Y = 16.2 - 1.5 - 2.5 = 12.2 ounces

The expected amount of cereal left in the box = 12.2 ounces

b) The standard deviation is given by  the root of the sum of the variance

That is

\sigma_{x+y+z} ^2 = \sigma_x^2 + \sigma_y^2 +\sigma_z^2 and

\sqrt{\sigma_{x+y+z} ^2}  = \sqrt{\sigma_x^2 + \sigma_y^2 +\sigma_z^2} =\sqrt{0.1^2+0.4^2+0.3^2} = 0.5099

The standard deviation,  \sigma_{x+y+z}, = 0.5099

c) The probability that the box still contains more than 13 ounces is given by

P(Z-(X+Y) > 13)

Where z-score is

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma} = \frac{13-12.2}{0.5099}=  1.5689 ≈ 1.57

From the z-score table P(Z = 1.57) = 0.94179

Therefore the probability of the box containing ≤ 13 is 0.94179, that is

P(Z-(X+Y) ≤ 13) = 0.94179 and

P(Z-(X+Y) > 13) = 1 - 0.94179 = 0.05821 = 5.821 %.

Which proportion could be used to solve:<br><br> 17% of what is 5?
Anna11 [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

17% of x = 5

this means that 17/100 * x = 5

dividing both sides by x

17/100 = 5/x

The graph of equation (3,-2) passes through which point
Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

If the y-intercept is 0, then this graph passes through [3,-2][6,-4][9,-6] and so forth.

Step-by-step explanation:

Rise over run, 3 is the rise, and -2 is the run. Using this you can find any point on the line up to infinity.

Find the root of (M^3)+(M^2)-2=0. Show steps.
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

x = 1, -1 + i, and -1 - i are the 3 roots

Step-by-step explanation:

The Rational Root Theorem will help us find any real roots in this 3rd degree polynomial.  The c value in that polynomia is -2 and the d value is 1 (the leading coefficient).

If c is -2, then the factors of -2 are:

1, -1, 2, -2

If d is 1, then the factors of 1 are:

1, -1

And c/d gives us all the possible roots:

1/1, -1/1, 2/1, -2/1 which of course simplify to

1, -1 2, -2

We will now use synthetic division to find the first real root.  I will use x = 1 first.

For synthetic division:

1|   1     1     0     -2

is how it is set up.  Bring down the first number, 1, multiply it by 1 and put that product up under the second "1":

1|    1     1     0     -2

           1

     1

Now add to get

1|     1     1     0     -2

            1

      1     2

Multiply 2 by 1 and put that product up under the 0 and add:

1|     1     1     0     -2

             1     2

      1     2    2

Again multiply the 2 by 1 and put that product up undeer the -2 and add:

1|     1     1     0     -2

            1      2      2

      1     2     2      0

That remainder of 0 tells us that x = 1 is a root of that polynomial and the depressed polynomial, made up from the bold numbers, is one degree less than what it started with:

x^2+2x+2=0

This does not factor without imaginary roots, so putting it into the quadratic formula looks like this:

x=\frac{-2+/-\sqrt{4-4(1)(2)} }{2}

which simplifies to

x=\frac{-2+/-\sqrt{-4} }{2}

The square root of -4 simplifies to 2i, so

x=\frac{-2+/-2i}{2}

which reduces to

x = -1 + i and

x = -1 - i
