What happens is that in this process the ingredients (cultures) usually lose their characteristics since the "ingredients" or individual cultures are not recognized when trying the "dish". According to this metaphor, the many immigrants from all countries of the world with their different cultural practices and beliefs come to the United States. to live and work together, forming a united and homogeneous nation. In a sense it is a metaphor for the process of cultural assimilation.
