Vasopressin, or the other name Anti Diuretic Hormone (ADH), has the action of causing the opposite (anti) of a diuretic. I.e., it causes the body to retain sodium, thus retaining water. This has many physiological effects, the majority of which focus around enabling the body to maintain homeostasis when water intake or hydration levels drop.

The scientists modified the genes that were turned on/off (expressed) in mice. What happened to the offspring of these mice?
daser333 [38]

The resulting mice will be induced with the changed gene either on or off. The offspring will have altered genes if both the alleles have the trait. This is a heritable change.

Explanation:

Making gene on or off is a process of gene regulation when one of the gene is methylated or histone modification to prevent access to transcription factors hence no expression of the protein. This process is called epigenetics.

The resulting progeny in mice will receive the allele of on or off the gene. Such genes with altered allele are also called as

The altered genes will be expressed in the resulting progeny of mice.

The epigenetic genes can be reverted with environmental effects in the offspring paramutable alleles. They are heritable.

What is the main difference between aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration?
garri49 [273]
The main difference between aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration is that aerobic using oxygen in the reaction, while anaerobic does not.

Even though both aerobic and anaerobic respiration releases energy, but their reactants and other products are completely different.
For example in human, in aerobic respiration, oxygen and glucose reacts to give out carbon dioxide and water; while in anaerobic respiration, which usually happens during exercise when oxygen is not enough, the muscle cells uses only glucose to produce energy and lactic acid.

Therefore, the main difference is where aerobic uses oxygen, and anaerobic don’t.

nata0808 [166]

In the absence of ADP, the conversion of NADH to NAD+ via the electron transport chain is prevented from happening.

What is glycolysis?

Glycolysis is the series of reactions by which glucose is broken down to pyruvate by the body.

NAD+ is a limiting factor in glycolysis. In the absence of ADP, the conversion of NADH to NAD+ via the electron transport chain is prevented from happening.
