<em>Coccidioides</em> is a fungus that is responsible for causing Pulmonary coccidioidomycosis or valleyfever.
The valley fever is caused when a person inhales the spores of the fungus, <em>Coccidioides immitis.</em>
The spores are dispersed in the air whenever the soil in which the fungus grows is disturbed and once these spores are inhaled it can cause the infection in the individuals and can also result in an epidemic.
