Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x² + 6x - 4 = 0

Add 4 to both sides

x²- 6x  = 4

Take the coefficient of x and divide it by 2.  6 ÷ 2 = 3

Now square the number that we got after dividing by 2. 3² = 9

Add 9 to both side of the equation.

x² - 6x + 9 = 4 + 9

x² - 6x + 9 = 13

{ This is in a² - 2ab + b² form}

x² - 2*x *3 + 3² = 13

(x  - 3)² = 13

To find the solution, take square root

x -3 =  √13

x - 3 = ± 3.61

x = 3.61 +3    ; x = -3.61 + 3

x = 6.61    ;   x = -0.61

2)x² - 10x + 14 = 0

x² - 10x = -14

x² - 10x + 25 = -14 + 25

x² - 2*x*5 + 5² = 11

(x - 5)² = 11

Solution

x - 5 = √11

x - 5 = ±3.32

x = 3.32 +5  ; x = -3.32 + 5

x = 8.32    ; x = 1.68

x = 8.32

Each of the following integrals represents the volume of either a hemisphere or a cone, and the variable of integration measures
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

1. cone

   radius, height = 2, 10

  volume = 13.33

2. hemisphere

   radius=  14

  volume = 1829.33

Step-by-step explanation:

The  region  described  has  a  radius r=2−y/5, therefore, the volume is a cone

radius, height = 2, 10

volume =

\int\limits^{10}_0 {\pi ( 2-\frac{y}{5} )^2} \, dy \\=

= 13.33

2. The  region  ∫14 0 π(196 - h^2) dh   has  a  radius 196 - h^2,  so the volume is a hemisphere

radius  = 14

volume

=\int\limits^{14}_0 {\pi (196 - h^{2}  )} \, dh

=\pi (196h- \frac{h^3}{3}) |^{14}_0

=1829.33

identify the initial amount a and the rate of growth r (as a percent) of the exponential function H(t) = 175 (1.028)t. evaluate
Liula [17]

From the given exponential function, we have that:

  • The initial amount is of 175.
  • The growth rate is of 2.8%.
  • When t = 5, we have that H(5) = 201.

<h3>What is an exponential function?</h3>

An increasing exponential function is modeled by:

A(t) = A(0)(1 + r)^t

In which:

  • A(0) is the initial value.
  • r is the growth rate, as a decimal.

In this problem, the function is:

H(t) = 175(1.028)^t

  • The initial value is of A(0) = 175.
  • The growth rate is of 0.028 = 2.8\%, as 1 + r = 1.028 \rightarrow r = 0.028.

When t = 5, we have that:

H(5) = 175(1.028)^5 = 201
