The question is asking us to find tax on an amount of $1,540 at the rate of 7\frac{1}{4}% Percent means out of 100.

7\frac{1}{4}=\frac{29}{4}=7.25.

7.25% =0.0725.

To find the tax to be paid we need to find 0.0725 of 1,540.

Tax to be paid = 0.0725x1540=111.65.

Tax on amount of $1540 at the rate of  tex]7\frac{1}{4}%[/tex]  is $111.65.

Option c. $111.65  is the right answer.

Keith_Richards [23]

The rate of change of the area of the triangle when t=1 is also equal to 3.

<h3>Rate of change</h3>

Given the function of height of a triangle expressed as:

  • h(t) = 3t + 1

The rate of change is expressed as

  • dh/dt = 3

Assume Josh made X cupcakes; Alice made Y cupcakes; Tom made Z cupcakes.
Josh made 10 more cakes than Alice so,
X = Y + 10 ---- 1st Eqn.

Alice made 8 more than Tom so,
Y= Z+8 --- 2nd Eqn.

Total cakes = 62 so,
X+Y+Z = 62  ---- 3rd Eqn.

by solving three equations we get X= 30; Y= 20; Z=12.
So Tom made 12 cupcakes
