You first find the median, which is the central term if the number of terms is odd, or the average of the two central terms if the number of terms is even...

This is an odd number of elements and the center term, the median, is 22

Now you get the "median" from the first term to the median, which is (20+21)/2=20.5  That's the first quartile...

Now you get the "median" from the central term to the last term which is:

(24+24)/2=24.  That's the third quartile...

Now the interquartile range is Q3-Q1 so:

24-20.5=3.5

So the interquartile range is 3.5

Maggie buys 5 apples and 4 oranges for $10 and Lynn buys 5 apples and 5 oranges for $11. What is the price for an apple and what
nlexa [21]
Make 2 eqn, let a be apples and o be oranges:

1. 5a + 4o = 10
2. 5a + 5o = 11

set up an elimination:
1. minus 2.
5a + 4o = 10
- 5a + 5o = 11
____________
o = 1

sub “o” into one of the eqn

5a + 5(1) = 11
5a = 11-5
5a = 6
a = 6/5
a = 1.2

therefore, an orange costs $1.00 and an apple costs $1.20

At a local school dance, the booster club is having a fundraiser selling pictures. Pictures without frames sell for $5, and with
Sergeu [11.5K]
Let p = pictures only
let f = pictures with frames

p + f = 100
5p + 10f = 875

Solve for one variable in the first equation then plug into the second

p = 100 - f
5(100 - f) + 10f = 875
500 - 5f + 10f = 875
500 + 5f = 875
5f = 375
f = 75

75 pictures with frames were sold
