Answer:

Midpoint : (4,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

midpoint = (\frac{x_1+x_2}{2} ,\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} )

Where the x and y values are derived from the given points.

We are given points H and K which are at (2,2) and (6,4)

We have (x1,y1) = (2,2) so x1 = 2 and y2 = 2

As well as (x2,y2) = (6,4) so x2 = 6 and y2 = 4

To find the midpoint we simply plug in the values of x and y into the formula

Recall the formula (\frac{x_1+x_2}{2} ,\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} )

x1 = 2 , x2 = 6 , y1 = 2 and y2 = 4

plug in these values into the formula

(\frac{2+6}{2} ,\frac{2+4}{2} )

add top values: 2 + 6 = 8 and 2 + 4 = 6

(\frac{8}{2} ,\frac{6}{2} )

simplify fractions : 8/2 = 4 and 6/2 = 3

The midpoint is at (4,3)

The width of a rectangle field is 3h yards and its length is 3 yards longer than the width. The field has a fence around its per
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

Part a) P=(12h+2)\ yd

Part b) The expression that represent the cost of fencing the field is (336h+56)

Part c) \$1,736

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>The complete question in the attached figure</u>

Part a) we know that

The perimeter of the rectangular field (excluding the width of the gate) is equal to

P=2(L+W)-4

we have

L=(3h+3)\ yd\\W=3h\ yd

substitute the given values

P=2(3h+3+3h)-4

P=2(6h+3)-4\\P=12h+6-4\\P=(12h+2)\ yd

Part b) we know that

To find out the cost of fencing the field (excluding the gate) , multiply the perimeter by the cost of $28 per yard

so

28(12h+2)=336h+56

Part c) we have

h=5

substitute the value of h in the expression of the cost

336(5)+56=\$1,736

Watching TV: In 2012, the General Social Survey asked a sample of 1326 people how much time they spent watching TV each day. The
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

We <em>fail to reject H₀ </em>as there is insufficient evidence at 0.5% level of significance to conclude  that the mean hours of TV watched per day differs from the claim.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a two-tailed test.

We first need to calculate the test statistic. The test statistic is calculated as follows:

Z_calc = X - μ₀ / (s /√n)

where

  • X is the mean number of hours
  • μ₀ is the mean that the sociologist claims is true
  • s is the standard deviation
  • n is the sample size

Therefore,

Z_calc = (3.02 - 3) / (2.64 /√(1326))

           = 0.2759

Now we have to calculate the z-value. The z-value is calculated as follows:

z_α/2 = z_(0.05/2) = z_0.025

Using the p-value method:

P = 1 - α/2

  = 1 - 0.025

  = 0.975

Thus, using the positive z-table, you will find that the z-value is

1.96.

Therefore, we reject H₀ if | Z_calc | > z_(α/2)

Thus, since

| Z_calc | < 1.96, we <em>fail to reject H₀ </em>as there is insufficient evidence at 0.5% level of significance to conclude  that the mean hours of TV watched per day differs from the claim.
