Answer: x=21/8

17+5(2x-9)=(-6x+10)+4

17+5(2x-9)=-6x+10+4

-6x+10+4 gets simplified to -6x+14

10+4=14

Plug into the equation

17+5(2x-9)=-6x+14

Then we do 5x2=10 and 5x9=-45

17+10x-45=-6x+14

Then we simplify 17+10x-45 to 10x-28

17-45=-28

10x-28=-6x+14+28

Then we add 28 to both sides

28 and 28 cancel eachothe out

28+14=42

Plug 42 into the equation

10x=-6x+42

Add 6x to both sides

10x+6x=42

6x and 6x cancel eachother out

10x+6x=16x

16x=42

Divided both sides by 16

16x/6=42/16

x=42/16

Simplify 42/16 to 21/8

Divide by 2

42 divided by 2=21

8 divided by 2=8

x=21/8

<h3><u>Answer:</u></h3>
  • You are correct.
<h3><u>Step-by-step explanation:</u></h3>
  • 17 + 5(2x - 9) = (-6x + 10) + 4
  • => 17 + 10x -45 = -6x + 10 + 4
  • => -28 + 10x = -6x + 14
  • => 6x + 10x = 28 + 14
  • => 16x = 42
  • => x = 42/16
  • => x = 21/8

<u>Check:</u>

  • 17 + 5(2{21/8} - 9) = (-6{21/8} + 10) + 4
  • => 17 + 5(42/8 - 9) = -15.75 + 10 + 4
  • => 17 + 5(-3.75) = -1.75
  • => 17 - 18.75 = -1.75
  • => -1.75 = -1.75
<h3><u>Conclusion:</u></h3>

Therefore, I think you are correct.

Hoped this helped.

Please help me with this question

Answer:

x = 11

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we are given triangle PQR is similar to triangle PTU, we can write a proportion to connect the side lengths:

PQ / PT = QR / TU = PR / PU

We don't really care about QR and TU because the are irrelevant to the problem, so we can remove them:

PQ / PT = PR / PU

Now, we can substitute the values given by the diagram:

70 / 30 = 49 / (x + 10)

We can cross multiply,

70(x + 10) = 30 * 49

And divide by 70 on both sides(too lazy to multiply :P)

x + 10 = 3 * 7

x + 10 = 21

x = 11

Mr. Luis wants to sell his house. The state he lives in charges a 3.5% sales tax on the sale of a house. The county charges a 3.
GarryVolchara [31]

We have been given that Mr. Luis wants to sell his house. The state he lives in charges a 3.5% sales tax on the sale of a house. The county charges a 3.9% sales tax, and the city charges a 2.2% sales tax.

We are asked to find the total tax, if Mr Luis sells his home for $122,500.

To find total tax, we will add all tax rates as they are being applied to same base.

\text{Total of tax rates}=3.5\%+3.9\%+2.2\%

\text{Total of tax rates}=9.6\%

Now we will find 9.6% of $122,500 to find total tax bill.

\text{Total tax bill}=\$122,500\times \frac{9.6}{100}

\text{Total tax bill}=\$1225\times 9.6

\text{Total tax bill}=\$11,760

Therefore, the total tax bill of Mr. Luis would be \$11,760.
