Which sentence in this excerpt from Mark Twain's "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note" is an example of satire?
IgorLugansk [536]
I would say that the example of satire among these options is d. Those two old brothers had been having a pretty hot argument a couple of days before, and had ended by agreeing to decide it by a bet, which is the English way of settling everything.
Twain is criticizing and mocking the English for settling everything in such a trivial manner as betting.

in the € 1,000,000 bank note why did mark twain most likely create the character henry adams as an american living in england
iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

to better compare and contrast American and British social tendencies.

Explanation:

Mark Twain most likely created the character of Henry Adams as an American living in England to better compare and contrast American and British social tendencies. Twain presents this story as a way to show how the way British and American society operate around money is very different. On the one hand, English people believe Adams's claim, and they are willing to lend him things and believe him reputable because of this note. On the other hand, Henry demonstrates to be clever and disciplined with his use of the money, arguably American qualities.

In "Everyday Use," the interaction between Dee and Maggie helps develop the story's theme about heritage. Describe how the siste
UNO [17]

Answer:

It was clear from the narrative that the two sisters did not get along very well. Maggie's lack of enthusiasm for her sister's return home suggests that the two do not have a particularly strong relationship, despite the fact that they have been separated for a long time. One possible explanation for the deterioration of ties is the widening gulf in worldview and cultural norms between them. Maggie is more traditional and attached to her homeland and culture than her progressive sister Dee. Even her younger sister, who hadn't done as well as she had, would be looked down upon with disdain. This is really eloquent on the subject of history and cultural distinctions. It seems like Dee was already so impacted by her partner's ancestry that she had forgotten the purity and elegance of her own.

Explanation:

This is my take on the story, so feel free to alter it to fit your own perspective.
