Answer:

667 N

Explanation:

\pink{\frak{Given}}\Bigg\{ \textsf{ A car weighs 6000 N on the Earth's surface.}

And we need to find out the weight of the car at a distance equal to 3 times the radius of the earth , from the centre of the earth.

We can find the acceleration due to gravity at a height h from the earth's surface as ,

\sf\longrightarrow \red{ g_h = g\bigg[ 1 +\dfrac{h}{R_e}\bigg]^{-2}}

  • The height here will be 3R - R = 2R , since 3R is the distance from the centre of the earth .

In above equation multiply both sides by m ,

\sf\longrightarrow mg_h = mg\bigg[ 1 +\dfrac{h}{R_e}\bigg]^{-2}

Now here at the place of mg we can substitute 6000N , and mg_h will be the weight at height h which we are interested in finding .

\sf\longrightarrow W_h = 6000 \bigg[ 1 +\dfrac{2R}{R}\bigg]^{-2}\\

\sf\longrightarrow W_h = 6000 [ 1 + 2 ]^{-2}\\

\sf\longrightarrow W_h  = 6000 [ 3]^{-2}\\

\sf\longrightarrow W_h = 6000 \times \dfrac{1}{3^2}=\dfrac{6000}{9}\\

\sf\longrightarrow \boxed{\bf Weight_h = 667N \ \ (approx) }

1. A baseball is thrown vertically at 16.7 m/s. What is the maimum height of the baseball?
Anvisha [2.4K]

Answer:

14.2 m

Explanation:

Using conservation of energy:

PE at top = KE at bottom

mgh = ½ mv²

h = v² / (2g)

h = (16.7 m/s)² / (2 × 9.8 m/s²)

h = 14.2 m

Using kinematics:

Given:

v₀ = 16.7 m/s

v = 0 m/s

a = -9.8 m/s²

Find: Δy

v² = v₀² + 2aΔy

(0 m/s)² = (16.7 m/s)² + 2 (-9.8 m/s²) Δy

Δy = 14.2 m

A steel bridge is 1000 m long at -20°C in winter. What is the change in length when the temperature rises to 40°C in summer? The
xenn [34]

Answer:

ΔL = 0.66 m

Explanation:

The change in length on an object due to rise in temperature is given by the following equation of linear thermal expansion:

ΔL = αLΔT

where,

ΔL = Change in Length of the bridge = ?

α = Coefficient of linear thermal expansion = 11 x 10⁻⁶ °C⁻¹

L = Original Length of the Bridge = 1000 m

ΔT = Change in Temperature =  Final Temperature - Initial Temperature

ΔT = 40°C - (-20°C) = 60°C

Therefore,

ΔL = (11 x 10⁻⁶ °C⁻¹)(1000 m)(60°C)

<u>ΔL = 0.66 m</u>
