Solution:

<u>Note that:</u>

  • Men:Woman = 3:2
  • 54 women = Total woman in a company

<u>3:2 can also be written as 3x:2x.</u>

  • => Men:54 = 3x:2x
  • => 54 = 2x
  • => x = 27
  • => Men = 3x
  • => Men = 3(27) = 81
  • => Total employees: 81 + 54
  • => Total employees: 135

There are 135 employees in total.

3 to 5

3x+5x=176

8x=176

x=176/8

x=22

3*22= 66 men

5*22= 110 women

Substitute the values for a, b, and c into b2 – 4ac to determine the discriminant. Which quadratic equations will have two real
hoa [83]

Answer: 0=2x^2-7x-9\\0=4x^2-3x-1\\0=x^2-2x-8

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that the standard quadratic equation is  ax^2+bx+c=0

Let's compare all the given equation to it and , find discriminant.

1. a=2, b= -7, c=-9

b^2-4ac=(-7)^2-4(2)(-9)=49+72>0

So it has 2 real number solutions.

2. a=1, b=-4, c=4

b^2-4ac=(-4)^2-4(1)(4)=16-16=0

So it has only 1 real number solution.

3. a=4, b=-3, c=-1

b^2-4ac=(-3)^2-4(4)(-1)=9+16=25>0

So it has 2 real number solutions.

4. a=1, b=-2, c=-8

b^2-4ac=(-2)^2-4(1)(-8)=4+32=36>0

So it has 2 real number solutions.

5. a=3, b=5, c=3

b^2-4ac=(5)^2-4(3)(3)=25-36=-9

Thus it does not has real solutions.

Round to the nearest hundredth 5/8
Solnce55 [7]
Eighths and their multiples are common fractions which I recommend memorizing, but to actually solve this, you use the literal meaning of a fraction and divide 5 by 8. See the long-division below (it was surprisingly difficult to type, so I hope it helps!).

To round 0.625 to the nearest hundredth, we go to the second decimal place, which is 5, so we round up to 0.63.

A sphere of radius r is cut by a plane h units above the equator, where
Anika [276]
Consider the top half of a sphere centered at the origin with radius r, which can be described by the equation

z=\sqrt{r^2-x^2-y^2}

and consider a plane

z=h

with 0. Call the region between the two surfaces R. The volume of R is given by the triple integral

\displaystyle\iiint_R\mathrm dV=\int_{-\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}^{\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}\int_{-\sqrt{r^2-h^2-x^2}}^{\sqrt{r^2-h^2-x^2}}\int_h^{\sqrt{r^2-x^2-y^2}}\mathrm dz\,\mathrm dy\,\mathrm dx

Converting to polar coordinates will help make this computation easier. Set

\begin{cases}x=\rho\cos\theta\sin\varphi\\y=\rho\sin\theta\sin\varphi\\z=\rho\cos\var\phi\end{cases}\implies\mathrm dx\,\mathrm dy\,\mathrm dz=\rho^2\sin\varphi\,\mathrm d\rho\,\mathrm d\theta\,\mathrm d\varphi

Now, the volume can be computed with the integral

\displaystyle\iiint_R\mathrm dV=\int_0^{2\pi}\int_0^{\arctan\frac{\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}h}\int_{h\sec\varphi}^r\rho^2\sin\varphi\,\mathrm d\rho\,\mathrm d\varphi\,\mathrm d\theta

You should get

\dfrac{2\pi}3\left(r^3\arctan\dfrac{\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}h-\dfrac{h^3}2\left(\dfrac{r\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}{h^2}+\ln\dfrac{r+\sqrt{r^2-h^2}}h\right)\right)
